Community Gatherings
Community gatherings are open, free of charge, offers to a community of individuals that are looking to explore the quality of being in the world. In this space, I introduce Gestalt relational priniciples and invite participants to experience the present moment for themselves and in connection with another.
The term gestalt in German translates into English as shape. Gestalt psychotherapy principles are guided by this term to explore the creation of a form or figure using the holistic approach of dialogic awareness that exists on ground on which perception and understanding of a situation is experienced. It is a meeting of whole parts, happening in the present moment through different styles of contact.
What I like about this and where my strenght lies in this approach, is the embodied qualities that such relationships bring to the actual encounter. The body is supporting us not only though our vital organs but also through senses, feelings, thoughts and expectations – when these are met met with clarity and awareness, new experiences come to the fore, and thus encouraging new approaches to ourselves, the people and the world around us.
Whole and Aware - an encounter
Whole and Aware is an experiential encounter of the here and now of your bodily experience. It has the format of a workshop that engages your inner world with yourself, me and the outer world around you. The sample stucture below provides achors that guide the process. For the actual exploration I reserve the freedom to adapt to what is found important in the specific moment of the encounter.
- Part one: Arrival in the space.
Guiding questions: How I am, here and now? How does it feel for my, my body and my mind, to be in this space? When I look around how do I feel? What do I think? What do I notice, assume or know as true? - Part two: Relate to the other.
Guiding questions: When I look around, what comes up? Do I feel my body? What am I thinking? - Part three: Active listenening.
Guiding suggestions: Invite one person next to you to share something that they know are curios or intrigued about. Listen to their story with no questions – Observe their whole being – Observe your whole being. Do you listen to agree, to contradict, to offer help? What else is there for you in this act of pure listening? - Part four: Exchange and engage.
Guiding suggestions: Share your experience with someone new around you. What did you notice? What part of you was dominat? What part of you was passive? How did you experience your wholeness? Possibly write or draw something on a card or paper.
Duration: depending of the number of participants the workshop can have a duration of 1h to maximum 3h.
Participants: to follow the individual and group process that forms, one session can accomdate 5-11 adults. For more participants, the format will be spread accross two meetings.
Location: a room in a building with enough space for movement of the body or an open space in nature.
