My approach
What I value most in my practice – rooted in Gestalt theory and therapy – is its humanistic and existential foundation.
When you enter counseling or therapy, you step into a field of forces – just like entering a new life situation. These forces can feel fluid, allowing you to move forward, or rigid, leaving you feel stuck. In this relational space, I invite a creative, embodied exploration that brings different insights to your current situation or offers you new possibilities for growth.
When you work with me, I facilitate an open, equal, and inclusive dialogue. Together, we create the safe space needed for our sessions. in this process, we will uncover the fixed patterns still shaping your life today. We will recognize how you and your environment constantly influence each other, and we will examine the dynamic context you create. Through this process, we will identify, experiment with, and integrate new ways for you to relate—to yourself, to others, and to the world.
In the words of Laura Perls, (co-founder of Gestalt Therapy)
Contact is made in any actual present situation, the only moment in which experience and change are possible. Whenever we think and talk of the past, our memories, regrets, resentments, grief, or nostalgia occur and are relevant right here and now, in the present. Whenever we talk about the future, we are fantasizing, planning, hoping, expecting, conspiring, looking forward to or dreading from where we are here and now, in the present situation.
Gestalt therapy is an existential, experiential and experimental approach which takes bearings from what is, not from what has been or what should be. No interpretation is necessary as we work with what is available in the actual present awareness […] and what becomes possible to experiment with through this ever-increasing awareness.
My approach starts from meeting you where you are, as you are, inviting an open dialogue that engages us in exploring
- The present-moment awareness of your needs and physical sensations
- The embodied experience of the here-and-now of your situation
- The relational co-creation that emerges in the therapy room, and beyond
Gestalt counselling or therapy sessions
The word “Gestalt” – German for “shape” or “form” – lies at the heart of Gestalt psychotherapy. This approach explores how we create meaning and structure in our lives, not through isolated parts, but through a holistic, present-moment dialogue between ourselves and our world.
In my practice, I focus on the here and now of the situation, where perception, emotions, and experiences come together in dynamic contact. Our experiences meet with clarity and awareness, creating the ground for new possibilities to emerge. This opens the door to fresh ways of relating—to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us.
